PROPER FIRST AID FOR SNAKE BITES

  1. Stay calm and keep still: Staying calm slows your heart rate, which can reduce venom spread. Avoid panicking or moving excessively.

  2. Call for emergency help immediately: Seek professional medical treatment as soon as possible. Time is critical.

  3. Keep the bite area immobilized: Use a splint or bandage to keep the bitten limb still. Keep it at or slightly below heart level.

  4. Remove tight items: If the bite is on a limb, remove rings, watches, or anything that might restrict blood flow if swelling occurs.

  5. Do not apply ice or suction: Avoid applying ice, cutting the wound, or attempting to suck out venom, as these can worsen the injury.

  6. Clean the bite site: Gently clean the wound with soap and water. Cover it with a clean, dry dressing to protect it from infection.

  7. Avoid eating, drinking, or taking medication: These can interfere with medical treatment and worsen symptoms in some cases.

The most important thing is to get to a hospital quickly. Medical professionals will provide the care you need, including antivenom if necessary. Stay as calm and still as possible while waiting for help.
